Swiss-born DJ Gilles Peterson has established himself as one of the most audacious producers and presenters in Britain. He is considered one of the founders of Acid Jazz in the Nineties thanks to his Talking Loud label. Peterson helped bring fame and fortune to the likes of UFO, Galliano, Roni Size and Urban Species. His voice has become a familiar one to British lovers of urban cross-over music thanks to his Radio One programme World Wide. His thirst for new music horizons has inspired compilations such as Gilles Peterson in Brazil and Gilles Peterson in Africa, double CDs which aim to bring a broader public into the closed sphere of “world music”.
